Save $1,000: The 77-inch version of one of Sony’s 2021 TV releases, the Bravia XR A80J OLED series, is only $3,499.99 at Best Buy (with free delivery) as of May 14.

Sony never wants you to be in a “dark scene in Game of Thrones making no damn sense” situation again. Physically decipherable pixels overcompensating for black are visuals we’d never see IRL, and Sony’s newest CPU tries to prevent that weird dissonance.

The 77-inch model of Sony’s Bravia XR A80J Series OLED TV is going for just $3,499.99, a $1,000 discount. Either way, it’s a steal on a model that was just released in March. Best Buy will deliver it for free, too.

Sony is revered as image processing royalty in the TV world. Its processors are consistently ahead of their time, keeping Sony’s prices consistently above those of the competition. The new Cognitive Processor XR surveys the full frame in real time and tweaks details on specific zones. Instead of relying on AI to optimize brightness, the XR chip customizes adjustments to things like skin tone or background light, depending on the angle from which a scene is filmed.
